"Divine Descent" Original Oil Painting

"Divine Descent" was made out of pure experimentation. I had recently started a large project that involved the use of Gold Leaf. Not wanting to mess it up I decided to cover a much smaller canvas entirely in it. I then had a gold canvas and no idea what to do with it. So naturally, I let it sit on my easel for weeks.  Inspiration finally hit while I was staring out the window and watching the clouds pass through the sun light. The way the their color and beams of light passed through them was absolutely breathtaking, and I found myself wanting to reach out to touch them. Imagining the way it would feel to just move through them.
