"Reborn" Original Oil Painting
"Reborn" is all most a self portrait in a way. I was bored one day and took a lot of reference pictures of myself. Later on, I sketched them out in pen. This portrait was heavily inspired by both the Greek and Norse mythologies and pantheons. Personally, I have a soft spot in my heart for the outcast and misunderstood, and there are no two deities who are more misunderstood than Hades and Loki. Although they are an unexpected pair, they are two of my favorite Gods. So even though the pose and anatomy where based on a picture of myself, I took elements from both Gods and faiths to create this character. The toga that's barely hanging on was inspired by the Greeks as well as the fire, for the Underworld is lighted by torch flame. Fire is also a common symbol of rebirth. Where as all of the tattoos are inspired by the Norse, and some of my own as well.
